A preliminary ruling at the European Court of Justice has ruled that the block on VAT recovery of business entertainment and white goods might not be valid (as distinct from staff entertainment). There is some prospect that the ruling could apply to other areas where VAT recovery is "blocked" such as white goods in the construction sector.
